No cross-platform play

Sources · Last verified: July 12, 2026.

Red Dead Redemption 2's story mode is single-player, and its online mode, Red Dead Online, has no crossplay. PlayStation players match only with PlayStation players, Xbox with Xbox, and PC with PC—there is no cross-platform play between any of them. The only shared play is cross-generation within a family: PS4 and PS5 use the same Red Dead Online servers, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S do too. There is also no cross-progression: moving from, say, PlayStation to PC means starting over, since your campaign progress, Red Dead Online rank, gold and cash do not transfer. This is very unlikely to change—Rockstar wound down major Red Dead Online updates in late 2022 and shifted resources to Grand Theft Auto VI, so no crossplay or cross-save features are planned.

RDR2 — frequently asked

Is Red Dead Redemption 2 crossplay?
No. Neither the campaign nor Red Dead Online supports crossplay. You can only play with people on your own platform, though PS4/PS5 share servers and Xbox One/Series X|S share servers within their families.
Does Red Dead Redemption 2 have cross-save or cross-progression?
No. Progress does not transfer between platforms—switching from console to PC (or between console families) means starting from zero.
