GTA V — frequently asked

What is the difference between GTA V Enhanced and Legacy on PC?
Enhanced (2025) is the upgraded build with ray tracing, higher-res assets, DirectStorage and an SSD requirement. Legacy is the original 2015 version, kept for older PCs with much lower requirements.
Do I need an SSD to play GTA 5?
For the current PC Enhanced edition, yes—Rockstar lists a 105 GB SSD as a minimum requirement, and it greatly speeds up GTA Online loading. The older Legacy version can run from an HDD.
Is GTA 5 free?
No, GTA V is a paid game. The Enhanced Standard Edition typically runs around $29.99 and is frequently discounted to about $15. It was offered free for a limited time on the Epic Games Store in 2020, but that promotion has ended.
