Is Valorant cross-platform?

PS5 and Xbox Series players share matchmaking, but PC and console players never play together. Cross-progression (inventory/skins) does carry across platforms on one Riot account.

Console-to-console crossplay only (PS5 and Xbox Series); no PC-to-console crossplay

VALORANT keeps PC and console populations strictly separate for competitive fairness - mouse-and-keyboard aim versus controller aim would be an uneven match, so Riot has stated there are no plans for PC-to-console crossplay. On console, however, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players DO share matchmaking and can party up together, which is true cross-play between the two consoles. That distinction matters: historically and currently there is NO PC-to-console crossplay, only console-to-console. Separately, VALORANT supports cross-progression: link the same Riot account and your inventory, Agents, skins, Valorant Points, and Battle Pass progress carry across PC and console. Note that competitive rank does not transfer between PC and console even on the same account, and the console versions use 'custom-built' controller gameplay tuned for the platform. The console editions (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) launched in 2024 following a limited beta.

VALORANT is free-to-play, and Riot monetizes exclusively through cosmetics. Real money buys Valorant Points (VP), the premium currency used for weapon and knife skins, gun buddies, sprays, player cards, and the premium Battle Pass (about 1,000 VP per Act). Skins are purely visual - premium ones add animations, finishers, and custom sound effects, but they never increase damage, accuracy, fire rate, or give any competitive edge, so VALORANT is not pay-to-win. Agents are unlocked through free play (or can be bought to skip the grind), and no gameplay-affecting content is paywalled. The in-game Store rotates featured skins every couple of weeks, and premium bundles and knives can be expensive, often $20 to $100+. The console versions (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), released in 2024, use the same cosmetics-only model, and cross-progression means purchases and Battle Pass progress carry across platforms on a single Riot account.
