Real money buys Valorant Points (VP), the premium currency used for weapon and knife skins, gun buddies, sprays, player cards, and the premium Battle Pass (about 1,000 VP per Act). Skins are purely visual - premium ones add animations, finishers, and custom sound effects, but they never increase damage, accuracy, fire rate, or give any competitive edge, so VALORANT is not pay-to-win. Agents are unlocked through free play (or can be bought to skip the grind), and no gameplay-affecting content is paywalled. The in-game Store rotates featured skins every couple of weeks, and premium bundles and knives can be expensive, often $20 to $100+. The console versions (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), released in 2024, use the same cosmetics-only model, and cross-progression means purchases and Battle Pass progress carry across platforms on a single Riot account.
