VALORANT hält die PC- und Konsolen-Populationen aus Gründen der kompetitiven Fairness strikt getrennt – ein Zielen mit Maus und Tastatur gegen ein Zielen mit Controller wäre ein ungleiches Duell, weshalb Riot erklärt hat, dass es keine Pläne für Crossplay zwischen PC und Konsole gibt. Auf der Konsole teilen sich PS5- und Xbox-Series-X|S-Spieler jedoch DAS Matchmaking und können gemeinsam eine Gruppe bilden, was echtes Crossplay zwischen den beiden Konsolen ist. Diese Unterscheidung ist wichtig: Früher wie heute gibt es KEIN Crossplay zwischen PC und Konsole, nur zwischen Konsolen. Davon getrennt unterstützt VALORANT die Cross-Progression: Verknüpfe dasselbe Riot-Konto, und dein Inventar, deine Agents, Skins, Valorant Points und dein Battle-Pass-Fortschritt werden über PC und Konsole hinweg übertragen. Beachte, dass der kompetitive Rang selbst mit demselben Konto nicht zwischen PC und Konsole übertragen wird und dass die Konsolenversionen ein 'eigens entwickeltes', auf die Plattform abgestimmtes Controller-Gameplay nutzen. Die Konsolenausgaben (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) erschienen 2024 nach einer begrenzten Beta.
VALORANT is free-to-play, and Riot monetizes exclusively through cosmetics. Real money buys Valorant Points (VP), the premium currency used for weapon and knife skins, gun buddies, sprays, player cards, and the premium Battle Pass (about 1,000 VP per Act). Skins are purely visual - premium ones add animations, finishers, and custom sound effects, but they never increase damage, accuracy, fire rate, or give any competitive edge, so VALORANT is not pay-to-win. Agents are unlocked through free play (or can be bought to skip the grind), and no gameplay-affecting content is paywalled. The in-game Store rotates featured skins every couple of weeks, and premium bundles and knives can be expensive, often $20 to $100+. The console versions (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), released in 2024, use the same cosmetics-only model, and cross-progression means purchases and Battle Pass progress carry across platforms on a single Riot account.
