VALORANT's footprint has changed significantly over its life. For years the install grew as Agents, maps, and cosmetics were added, pushing it into the roughly 30-50 GB range depending on when it was measured. A major Unreal Engine 5 migration around mid-2025 re-optimized assets and substantially reduced the on-disk size, with post-update measurements landing near 25 GB. Riot does not publish one fixed number, and the size continues to drift with each Act and patch, so treat all figures as approximate ranges. The initial download is a tiny (~60-80 MB) installer that then pulls the full client. Budgeting 40-60 GB of free space gives comfortable headroom for future patches so an update never fails mid-download. There is no separate high-resolution texture toggle; SSD storage is recommended for faster load times but is not strictly required. Console versions manage their own storage on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
