Hogwarts Legacy is fairly demanding but scalable. Its headline requirement is 16 GB of RAM even at minimum, which is higher than many 2023 games and reflects how much the open world streams in the background; players with 8 GB will struggle. GPU demands are moderate at low settings (a GTX 960/RX 470 class card) but climb steeply for ray tracing and higher resolutions. Warner Bros. also published Ultra (1440p/60, RTX 2080 Ti or RX 6800 XT) and 4K Ultra (RTX 3090 Ti or RX 6950 XT) tiers, so max settings are genuinely heavy. The most common real-world pain points at launch were VRAM-related stutter and traversal hitching, largely eased by an SSD and driver/patch updates; keeping textures and ray tracing in check helps a lot on mid-range cards. The game is officially Steam Deck Verified and runs well there at ~30 fps with tuned settings. If you are upgrading, prioritize an SSD and 16 GB RAM first, then a GPU with at least 6-8 GB of VRAM.
