- Pre-orders are live on the Xbox Store, Steam and at retailers across Standard, Premium and Collector's Editions. Every pre-order includes early access to the Open Beta (August 6-10, 2026, ahead of the public phase), the Exfil Dom Legendary Character Skin and the Exfil Legendary Weapon Skin set. Premium and Collector's Edition pre-orders also unlock the game up to five days early, on October 1, 2026.

Gears of War: E-Day launches Tuesday, October 6, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S and PC, including Steam, and it arrives on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Microsoft locked in the date at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, alongside a new trailer and the surprise confirmation that the game will remain an Xbox console exclusive. Players who pick up the Premium or Collector's Edition can start up to five days early, on October 1, while everyone else joins at the global launch.
E-Day is a prequel set fourteen years before the original Gears of War, dropping players into Emergence Day itself — the moment the Locust Horde bursts from beneath Sera and blindsides humanity. Younger versions of Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago fight through the collapsing city of Kalona alongside Bravo Squad members Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes. The Coalition is developing the game with longtime series collaborator People Can Fly in Unreal Engine 5, promising expanded destruction, heavier gore, a 60fps ray-traced campaign and multiplayer at up to 120fps.
Pre-orders are open across three editions: Standard at $69.99, Premium at $99.99 and a $299.99 Collector's Edition packed with physical extras such as a replica of Carlos Santiago's COG tags and a custom SteelBook designed by Luke Preece. Every pre-order grants early access to the Open Beta, which begins August 6, 2026, plus the Exfil Dom character skin and a matching weapon skin set. And despite an early PEGI rating that briefly listed a PlayStation 5 version, Microsoft has been unambiguous: E-Day is not coming to PS5.
