The GPU and CPU targets for Baldur's Gate 3 are fairly moderate: the minimum is around a GTX 970, and the recommended is an RTX 2060 Super or RX 5700 XT, so a mid-range card from the last several years handles it well. The two things that catch people out are the SSD requirement (a hard drive genuinely will not work properly) and the AVX2 instruction requirement, which rules out some older CPUs from before roughly 2014 even if their core count looks adequate. RAM should be 16 GB for the recommended experience; 8 GB is playable but tight. The single most demanding part of the game is Act 3 in the city of Baldur's Gate, which is heavily CPU-bound because of the dense NPC simulation, so a stronger processor helps more than a top-end GPU there. The game offers both DirectX 11 and Vulkan renderers; switching between them can improve stability on some systems. Baldur's Gate 3 is rated Steam Deck Verified and runs on the handheld, including on macOS via a native Apple Silicon build.
