By modern standards Elden Ring is not especially demanding to run: the minimum tier is built around 2017-era hardware like the GTX 1060 and Ryzen 3, and the recommended tier only steps up to a GTX 1070. Crucially, the requirements are identical for the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, so if you can run one you can run the other. The bigger caveats are practical rather than raw-power: the game is capped at 60 fps, it has a well-documented history of traversal stutter on PC, and it benefits a lot from an SSD for its constant open-world streaming. 16 GB of RAM is the comfortable sweet spot even though 12 GB is the stated minimum. The game is rated Steam Deck Verified and runs well on that handheld. If you are upgrading, prioritise a mid-range GPU with at least 6-8 GB of VRAM and an SSD over chasing a top-end card; Elden Ring will not fully utilise high-end hardware because of its frame cap.
