No cross-platform play

Sources · Last verified: July 12, 2026.

Elden Ring does not support cross-platform multiplayer. Its online features (co-op summoning, PvP invasions, duels, and the message/bloodstain system) are matched only within the same platform family. PC players match only with other PC players, PlayStation with PlayStation, and Xbox with Xbox. The one flexibility is cross-generation within the same brand: PS4 and PS5 players can play together, and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S players can play together, because those share the same online ecosystem. There is no mixing between PlayStation, Xbox and PC. FromSoftware built the game's netcode long before crossplay became an industry norm, and the three platforms run on separate server infrastructure, so a retrofit is unlikely. Neither FromSoftware nor Bandai Namco has announced any plans to add cross-platform play, and the Shadow of the Erdtree update did not change this. There is also no cross-save or cross-progression, so your character does not carry between platforms.
