Is Animal Crossing NH Switch 2 Edition cross-platform?

The Switch 2 Edition is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive with no cross-platform play with PlayStation, Xbox or PC — Animal Crossing has always lived entirely inside the Nintendo ecosystem. Multiplayer is island-visiting: up to 8 players locally or online in a standard session, rising to up to 12 players online when everyone is on the Switch 2 Edition. Online island visits require a Nintendo Switch Online membership (sold separately); local co-op and Mystery Tour / Harv's Island visits do not.

Because the free Ver. 3.0 update also runs on the original Nintendo Switch, players on a Switch and players on a Switch 2 can still visit each other's islands online, but the larger 12-player sessions are limited to lobbies where every player owns the Switch 2 Edition — mixed groups cap at 8. Switch 2 Edition also adds CameraPlay (via a compatible USB camera, sold separately) and GameChat so friends can see and hear each other while visiting. None of this is 'crossplay' in the cross-console sense; it is all Nintendo-to-Nintendo online play.
