Counter-Strike 2는 콘솔로 출시된 적이 한 번도 없습니다. Valve는 PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch로 게임을 출시하지 않았고 그럴 계획도 발표하지 않았으므로, PC와 콘솔 간 크로스플레이 문제는 의미가 없습니다. 모두가 PC에서 플레이합니다. 유일한 '크로스플랫폼' 차원은 운영체제입니다 - CS2는 64비트 Windows와 Linux를 지원하며, Windows와 Linux 플레이어는 같은 서버와 매치메이킹 풀을 공유합니다. (macOS 지원은 2023년 CS2 전환 시점에 중단되었습니다.) Valve가 게임을 PC와 마우스·키보드 전용으로 유지하는 것은 대체로 경쟁의 공정성 때문입니다. 정밀한 조준, 매우 높은 프레임, 그리고 컨트롤러 조준 보정의 부재는 모든 수준에서 Counter-Strike가 플레이되는 방식의 핵심입니다. 참고로 오래전 원작 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive의 구세대 콘솔 이식판이 있었지만, 이는 별개의 단종된 제품이며 현대의 CS2와는 무관합니다.
Counter-Strike 2 is completely free to play. Valve released it in September 2023 as a free upgrade that replaced CS:GO, and players' existing skin inventories carried over. Revenue comes almost entirely from cosmetics: weapon skins, knives, gloves, stickers, and agent models, plus weapon cases that require a purchased key (about $2.50) to open. Items trade on the Steam Community Market, where Valve takes a cut of every sale and rare skins can resell for thousands of dollars. Crucially, none of this affects gameplay - every skin is purely visual and all weapons behave identically regardless of finish, so CS2 is not pay-to-win. There is no paid battle pass that changes stats and no gameplay locked behind money. An optional one-time Prime Status upgrade affects matchmaking pools and item drops, not in-match power. The case-opening economy is criticized as gambling-like, but the competitive game itself is free and skill-based.
