Tales of Eternia Remastered is an updated version of the classic Bandai Namco role-playing game first released on the original PlayStation more than two decades ago. It follows Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Farah Oersted, whose quiet island life is upended when they meet a mysterious girl speaking an unknown language and set out across two divided worlds, Inferia and Celestia. The journey pairs real-time party combat with an emotional story about stopping a looming catastrophe that threatens to crash the two worlds together.
The remaster is confirmed for a worldwide launch on Friday, October 16, 2026. It arrives the same day on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. Bandai Namco has detailed a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe Edition, though a Western standard-edition price had not been confirmed at the time of writing, while pre-orders include a bonus in-game item set.
For longtime fans this is the first time the game has returned in a modernized form after more than 20 years, and many Western players never had an easy way to experience it. The remaster layers in quality-of-life features such as switchable remastered or original graphics and sound, adjustable experience and encounter rates, Battle Retry, and new higher difficulty options. With a beloved cult RPG finally reaching current hardware on a single global date, anticipation is building toward the October launch.
