Slay the Spire II

Slay the Spire II is the sequel to Mega Crit's genre-defining roguelike deckbuilder, in which you climb an ever-shifting Spire by drafting cards, collecting relics, and battling through procedurally generated encounters where every run is different. Developed and self-published by Mega Crit Games, it was rebuilt from the ground up in the Godot engine (after the studio abandoned two years of Unity work following the Unity runtime-fee controversy). It launched into Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026 at $24.99, featuring five characters (returning Ironclad, Silent and Defect plus the new Necrobinder and Regent) and, for the first time in the series, four-player online co-op. Mega Crit expects the Early Access period to last roughly one to two years while it adds more content, additional game modes and a true ending, and has said the game will never include microtransactions.

Slay the Spire 2 — frequently asked

When did Slay the Spire II release, and is it in Early Access?
Yes — it launched into Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026 (10:00 AM Pacific, a simultaneous worldwide unlock). It is not the finished 1.0 game; Mega Crit expects Early Access to run roughly one to two years while it adds more content, extra game modes and a true ending.
What platforms is it on?
PC only, via Steam — the same release runs on Windows, macOS and Linux/SteamOS. There are no console versions announced, but it is Steam Deck Verified.
How much does it cost?
The Early Access price is $24.99 USD. Mega Crit has said the price will increase when the game reaches its full 1.0 release, and confirmed there are no microtransactions or hidden costs.
Is it multiplayer or single-player?
Both. Slay the Spire II is primarily a single-player roguelike, but the Early Access build adds four-player online co-op for the first time in the series — the host and up to three Steam friends climb together with shared map decisions and multiplayer-specific cards. There's no matchmaking or public lobbies (you play with friends), and co-op Ascension progress is tracked separately from single-player.
