Screenbound is a genre-bending action platformer built around a single disorienting idea: a 2D handheld game and the 3D world around it exist at the same moment, and you steer both at once. After switching on a strange device called the Qboy, your character's reality splits, so every jump and dodge plays out simultaneously on a pixel-art screen and in a stylized 3D space. Developer Crescent Moon Games leans into that friction, billing the result as the world's first '5D' platformer, where some platforms, enemies, and objects exist in only one of the two realities.
The game is confirmed to launch on Thursday, September 10, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. Publisher Digital Pajamas has also confirmed that Screenbound will join Xbox Game Pass on day one, letting subscribers play it at no extra cost from launch. The standard console editions are priced at $29.99, physical copies for PS5 and Xbox are already open for pre-order, and a separate physical Nintendo Switch 2 release is listed at $44.99.
Anticipation has grown since hands-on showings at events like Summer Game Fest and GDC, where the dual-plane puzzles drew attention for asking players to read two worlds at once. A free demo has already let curious players try the Qboy mechanic ahead of release. For fans of experimental platformers, the pull is simple: Screenbound promises a control scheme and spatial-reasoning challenge unlike much else arriving this fall.
