Forza Horizon 5 features robust crossplay: players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC (Microsoft Store and Steam) and PlayStation 5 can share the same open world, join convoys and compete in online races and events together. Crossplay is enabled by default, and skill-based matchmaking generally keeps the experience fair across input types. The PS5 edition arrived on April 29, 2025 with full feature parity and cross-play; PlayStation players must link a free Microsoft account to access online features and add friends across platforms via the in-game 'Add MSA Friend' option. The important caveat is cross-progression, which is not universal. Save and progress sharing works only within the Xbox Play Anywhere ecosystem-buy the game on Xbox and the Microsoft Store PC version and your cars, accolades and purchases sync via your Microsoft account. Steam and PS5, however, do not support cross-save: your garage and story progress there stay separate, so buying the game again on a different storefront means starting fresh. In short, you can freely play together across platforms, but you cannot always carry your own progress between them.
