Beast of Reincarnation is Game Freak's first non-Pokemon AAA action RPG, released under the studio's own Fictions publishing label and directed by longtime Pokemon battle-system designer Kota Furushima. Billed as a "one-person, one-dog" adventure, it follows Emma the Sealer and her canine partner Koo through a ruined, corruption-choked Japan set in the year 4026. Emma fights in real time with sword-based combat while Koo unleashes command-driven skills, and well-timed parries build the points needed to trigger the dog's abilities.
The game launches on August 4, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. The Standard Edition is priced at $59.99, with a Deluxe Edition at $69.99 that adds cosmetic skins, extra in-game currency and other bonuses, and pre-orders are already live across storefronts. On Xbox and PC it also arrives day one on Game Pass, while PlayStation players buy it as a standard release.
Anticipation is high because this is the clearest sign yet of Game Freak stepping beyond Pokemon and onto non-Nintendo hardware for a major original title. Its blend of traditional Japanese folklore with far-future science fiction, a companion-driven combat hook and Yui Ishikawa voicing Emma have drawn interest from action-RPG fans eager to see the studio's next act. With a firm August date and Game Pass access on day one, the countdown has become one of the more closely watched of the late-summer 2026 lineup.
